Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday said the police stations of the state will have to be transformed into centres of faith and credibility.
Sonowal said this while inaugurating the newly-built Bokakhat police station.
The police station was newly constructed under the MOITRI (Mission for Overall Improvement of Thana for Responsive Image) scheme.
Sonowal dedicated the new building to the service of the people during a function held at the police station campus at Bokakhat.
The Bokakhat police station was set up during the pre-independence period in 1905.
Speaking on the occasion, chief minister Sonowal said, “Assam Police will have to present a reformed face with Smart Thana, Smart Police and qualitative services.”
