Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday announced three major decisions, including financial assistance for graduates, support for students learning foreign languages and interim relief for flood-affected families.
The announcements were made on September 1 and cover education, employment-oriented skill development and assistance for people affected by the state’s floods.
Under the Mukhyamantri Jibon Prerana Asoni, the state government will provide Rs 2,500 per month to graduates for one year. According to the announcement, Rs 118.6 crore will be disbursed under the scheme this year.
The Chief Minister also announced the Chief Minister’s Foreign Language Initiative for Global Human Talent (CM-FLIGHT). The initiative will provide financial support to students learning foreign languages, with Rs 1 lakh to be paid in three equal instalments to support their language training.
Students who secure employment after completing the programme will receive an additional Rs 50,000 after placement, according to the announcement.
The third decision concerns relief for people who continue to be affected by the recent floods in Assam.
The government will provide Rs 15,000 each to 12,259 remaining flood-affected families as interim relief.
The three announcements come as the state continues to address the economic impact of the floods while focusing on graduate support and improving access to foreign-language training aimed at enhancing employment opportunities.
