Guwahati: Assam continues to face widespread flooding, with the latest Disaster Reporting and Information Management System (DRIMS) report showing that 10 districts, 28 revenue circles and 456 villages remain affected.
The flood death toll has risen to 107, while around 1,37,590 people have been affected across the state. Floodwaters have also submerged 11,933.46 hectares of crop land.
The affected districts are Golaghat, Sivasagar, Hojai, Darrang, Lakhimpur, Jorhat, Karbi Anglong, Charaideo, Nagaon and Biswanath.
Golaghat has recorded the highest number of affected people at 68,239, followed by Sivasagar with 39,495 and Jorhat with 16,259.
According to the Central Water Commission, the Dhansiri (South) is flowing above the danger level at Golaghat and Numaligarh. The Kushiyara is also above the danger mark at Sribhumi. However, no river is currently flowing above its highest flood level.
The ongoing flooding has forced thousands of residents to seek shelter in relief camps. The latest report lists 125 relief camps and distribution centres, comprising 52 relief camps and 73 distribution centres.
Around 8,000 people are currently staying in relief camps. This includes 3,592 men, 3,437 women and 919 children.
Sivasagar remains among the worst-affected districts, with 39,495 people impacted and 2,277 hectares of agricultural land submerged. The district has 19 relief camps, providing shelter to 4,649 people.
In Golaghat, 68,239 people have been affected, while more than 2,006 hectares of crop land have been inundated. The district has 82 relief camps and distribution centres, with 1,876 people currently taking shelter in relief camps.
Rescue and relief operations are continuing across the affected areas. Authorities have deployed 59 medical teams and 10 boats to assist people in flood-hit locations. In Jorhat alone, 107 people have been evacuated by boat.
The latest assessment also records damage to 516 houses in Sivasagar. Of these, 176 have been fully or severely damaged, while 340 have suffered partial damage.
Authorities are continuing to monitor water levels and carry out rescue, relief and medical operations as flooding persists across several parts of Assam.
