Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal has asked the workers of BJP Tea Morcha to take feedback from tea garden workers regarding implementation of the welfare schemes undertaken by the BJP-led government.

Addressing the inaugural meeting of the party’s Assam Pradesh Tea Morcha in Jorhat on Thursday, chief minister Sonowal urged the Tea Morcha workers to submit a report to him and the State BJP President Ranjeet Kumar Dass within a month on the feedback of the welfare schemes.

Sonowal asked the Tea Morcha workers to visit over 10.5 lakh tea workers’ families across the State and interact with them regarding availing of the welfare schemes undertaken by the government and inform them if not aware of the same.

He asked the workers not to be irked if some tea workers criticised them regarding non-fullfilmment or having not benefited by the welfare measures.

The CM told them to take it in a positive manner and find out the shortcomings, if any regarding implementation of the schemes, and state it in the report to be submitted to him and Dass.

Reiterating his government’s commitment to uplift the social and economic conditions of tea workers’ community, Sonowal , while taking a dig at the Congress party said that though the Congress remained in power most of the time after Independence the tea tribes were left neglected.

He pointed out that his Government started to observe Shramik Kalyan Divas in recognition of the remarkable services of notable tea community leader and social worker Santosh Kumar Topno since 2017.
