Following the guidelines of the government, the Christian community in Assam’s Hojai and Karbi Anglong celebrated Easter on Sunday at their respective residences with pomp and gaiety.
All the churches were closed for people due to country-wide COVID-19 lockdown.
“For us the well being of the people is more important than any ritual, so we abiding by government guidelines celebrated Easter by worshipping from home, without violating any rules,” said Father Thanghao D of Believers Eastern Church, Satgaon, Discose Lanka.
“We in family of six even maintained social distancing while praying at home as it is one of most important weapons to defeat COVID-19 and definitely Jesus Christ will give us strength and soon normalcy will return,” said Rebecca Dimngel, a devotee from Lanka.
“The Church door may be closed but the inner Church, that is the Heart is never closes to worship God,” said Jonathan, another devotee.
“Due to lockdown Easter Sunday could not be celebrated as earlier, however, we pray almighty from home for all the people of the world especially those who are suffering due to COVID-19, may Lord Jesus Christ bless us all,” Felix Darlong, a devotee from SOS Children’s Village, Hojai said.
