The Chirang district administration on Saturday declared two containment zones at Mongalagaon after 13 people of the village tested positive for Covid-19 within the past 48 hours.

Chirang deputy commissioner issued an order to declare the areas bounded by Nepali Mandir and Shiv Mandir in the north, Mongalagaon Bazar in the south, Borpathar road in the east and Kajalgaon to Dangtal road in the west as containment zones.

Residences of two villagers along with the road from Kajalgaon to Monglagaon and the paddy fields on the west of the village have also been declared containment zones.

The circle officer of Sidli Revenue Circle was directed by the deputy commissioner to seal these areas immediately for prohibiting the entry and exit of any unauthorized, including movement of vehicles into these containment zones till the area is declared safe.

He also directed the residents of these areas to strictly follow all statutory and other directions regarding maintenance of social distancing, wearing of mask, frequent washing of hands and use of hand sanitizer.

“Any violation of this order will attract action under the provision of Assam Covid-19 Regulations, 2020, the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 and other relevant laws in force”, the order further said.
