The Bajali College Students’ Union general election was held on Friday. Students casted their votes peacefully and the results were declared on Friday evening itself. Candidates from different organisations like the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Assam Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chhatra Parishad (AJYCP) and All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) contested in the elections.

According to reports, six candidates from AASU, one from AJYCP and one from ABVP won in the polls, and one Independent candidate won. Subrajit Kalita of AASU was elected as the president of the college union while Krikhanjoyti Baruah, again from AASU, was elected as vice-president. Arnab Barman (AASU) was elected as the general secretary, Bhargab Talukdar (AASU) was elected as the assistant general secretary, Joytishmita Roy was elected as secretary of Girls’ Common Room (AASU) and Milton Ahmed (AASU) was elected as secretary of general sports.

Manab Joyti Talukdar was elected as secretary of Boys’ Common Room from ABVP; Bhargabi Talukdar was elected as cultural secretary from AJYCP and Independent candidate Rupam Sarania was elected as class representative.

The students danced and exulted over the poll results in the college campus and took out a huge procession shouting slogans and bursting fire crackers and also smearing Holi colour on each other. Later, the candidates were felicitated by the Pathsala Anchalik Students’ Union, Bajali Sub-division Students’ Union and the All Barpeta District Students’ Union at the AASU office at Pathsala in Assam.
