A total 26 candidates were ceremonial distributed appointment letter for the post of Agriculture Extension Assistant (AEA), Department of Agriculture, Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) at BTC Secretariat Conference hall in Assam’s Kokrajhar on Tuesday.

The executive member (EM) of Agriculture, BTC Ansumwi Khungur Boro ceremonially distributed the appointment letters in presence of BTC principal secretary Biren Chandra Phukon and other guests.

BTC executive member, Department of Agriculture, Ansuma Kunggur Boro attended the function as chief guest and handed over the appointment letters.

Speaking on the occasion, BTC executive member called upon the newly appointed candidates to work for the uplift and development of agriculture sectors.

In his address, EM Ansumwi Khungur Boro said agriculture was the prime source of income in BTC as the people of the region depend on agricultural products.

He said his department has been giving emphasis on improvement of markets and agriculture business and boosting technology for modern method of cultivation.

“Our markets for agriculture products have no uniform and controlled standard prices as other parts of the country and so the council is looking forward to standardize the prices for the benefits of farmers,” he said.

He also added neighboring country like Bhutan and sister state of the Northeast, Sikkim became complete organic state.

He said his department has been trying to establish BTC as organic zone through the vision of Bodoland Organic Mission.

Boro said BTC Agriculture department has shortage of man power to sustain the department.

He called upon the newly appointed extension assistants to dedicate themselves for the farmers of rural areas.

He also said the appointed assistants would be given training in agriculture sector to train up farmers of rural areas.

BTC principal secretary Biren Chandra Phukan, additional principal secretary Robinson Muchahary, chairman of central selection board Rajendranath Brahma, and other CSB members were also present in the function.
