The Bodoland Peopleโ€™s Front (BPF) has opposed the decorative construction work at the BTC Secretariat launched by the newly-appointed BTC administrator after imposition of the Governorโ€™s Rule in the region.

โ€œThe move by Assam Governmentโ€™s Principal Secretary Rajesh Prasad, the administrator of BTC, comes even as the issue of imposition of Governorโ€™s rule in the BTC is still in the court,โ€ the BPF said.

In a series of tweets, the BPF said, โ€œWhile the issue of imposition of Governorโ€™s rule in the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) is still in the court, Assam Principal Secretary Rajesh Prasad, who has been appointed as Administrator, has already started decorative construction work at the BTC Secretariat.โ€

Sharing pictures of the construction work, the party tweeted: โ€œThe move by the officials of the State Government to spend crores of rupees on decorating their offices and homes comes at a time when our people are suffering immensely due to the coronavirus pandemic.โ€

The BPF said while COVID19 outbreak is causing considerable human suffering across the world and the spotlight currently is on finding ways to mitigate the crisis, โ€œinstead of focusing on the peopleโ€™s problem, who are not even getting their stipulated ration, the state government officials are more concerned about their own facilitiesโ€.

โ€œAs if the decorations of their offices were not enough, the Principal Secretary has also demanded bullet-proof cars,โ€ the party said, adding, โ€œInjustice is being done. They are trying to keep us away from our people by adopting wrong methods. We strongly condemn it.โ€
