Haflong: The body of a 60-year-old employee of Northeast Frontier Railway, was found on a road near the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in South Assam’s Lower Haflong on Saturday morning.

According to locals, the body was first spotted by a passerby who immediately alerted the Haflong Police Station.

The deceased identified as Om Bahadur Chetri had sustained a head injury, although the exact cause of death is yet to be determined.

Chetri, currently posted in Agartala under the Lumding Division’s electrical branch, returned home on Friday after being granted leave. He left his residence around 8 PM that evening and did not return.

The police have initiated an investigation into the matter, and the body has been sent to Haflong Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
