The body of a man was found floating in the Darika river at Kukura Pohia in Assam’s Sivasagar district on Wednesday morning.
Locals spotted the body early in the morning and informed the police.

The deceased was identified as 37-year-old Sanjeev Bora by his family members.
Soon district magistrate Rantu Baruah along with a team of police officials arrived on the spot.

The body was retrieved from the water and sent for autopsy at the Sivasagar Civil Hospital, the report of which is awaited.
Bora was a resident of the Habiram Bora Path in Sibasagar town.
According to family members, the victim had been missing from about 4 pm on June 5.
They also suspected foul play into the incident, claiming that Bora had been murdered.
The police have however, started investigations into the incident.
“We have started the preliminary investigations and will know the exact cause of the victim’s death once the autopsy arrives,” said a police official.
