Sensation prevails following the recovery of a policeman’s body in a mysterious condition near Golakganj Tinali on National Highway 31 under Golakganj police station of Dhubri district on Sunday morning.
The body was found in a pool of blood.
As per police sources, the man, identified as Umesh Ch. Roy, a resident of Kachuakhana village, was serving as a police constable at Dhubri police reserve station.
However, the body found near Golakganj Tinali with marks of bullet injuries has created a sensation in the region.
Golakganj Tinali is located about 30 kilometres away from the Dhubri district headquarters.
Speaking to media persons, Dhubri additional superintendent of police Hiranya Barman said the entire matter is under investigation and “it is hurry to speak anything regarding the matter”.
The police also recovered one AK 47 rifle and four rounds of empty cartilage and live bullets from on the deceased constable, who was in civil dress at the time of the incident.
“We have sent the body for conducting post-mortem at Dhubri Civil Hospital and we are waiting for the final reports,” said Barman.
Locals suspect it to be a case of murder as his body was found in a pool of blood.
The police officials refused to comment on anything regarding the matter.
