Assam BJP chief’s week-long tour for bypolls to 4 Assembly seats begins on Sunday

Assam Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Ranjeet Das will start his 7-day election tour for the forthcoming byelection to the four Assembly constituencies in Assam from Sunday.

Four legislative Assembly constituencies in Assam – 1-Ratabari, reserved for SC; 44-Jania; 74-Rangapara and 106-Sonari – will go to bypolls on October 21.

According to the scheduled tour programme, the Assam BJP chief will start the campaign on Sunday from Jania constituency in Barpeta district.

On Sunday, Ranjeet Kr Dass will depart Guwahati at 10.15 am by a helicopter and will reach Kharisala under Jania constituency at 10.45 am.

The state BJP president will address election meetings at Kharisala and Balagaon.

He will stay for the night at Barpeta Road.

On Monday, Dass will depart Barpeta Road via Mangaldai in Darrang district by road and reach Tezpur at 9.30 pm.

On Tuesday, the state BJP president will leave Tezpur by road at 10 am and reach Rangapara constituency in Sonitpur district at 11 am where he will address two election meetings.

He will leave Rangapara constituency at 2.30 pm and arrive in Guwahati at 6 pm.

On Wednesday, Dass will again start his journey by road to Jania constituency and reach Haldia at 10.45 am.

On the day, he will address two meetings in the constituency – first meeting at Haldia and the second meeting at Bhatkuchi – and reach Barpeta Road at 3.15 pm.

He will be back to Guwahati from Barpeta Road at 6 pm and stay for the night in the city.

On Friday, Dass will leave Guwahati by helicopter in the morning and reach Ratabari Assembly constituency in Karimganj district at 10.30 am.

He will address two election meetings in the constituency and will be back to Guwahati by helicopter on the same day.

The state BJP president will depart Guwahati by helicopter at 8:30 am and reach Sonari constituency in Charaideo district at 10 am.

He will address two meetings in the constituency. He will leave the constituency and reach Barpeta Road by road at 3 pm.

The state BJP has sought adequate security arrangement for Ranjeet Kr Dass with “centralized escort & pilot”.
