Gakul Roy said that he was shocked to receive a challan on the app.

He claimed that a few months ago when he was working at his home, a message was received on his phone.

When he opened it, he found out a Rs 1,000 challan was issued against his vehicle for not wearing a seat belt.

“I was shocked given the fact that I own a bike and not a car. I thought it was a scam message and ignored it”, he said.

He added, “However, yesterday when I checked the RC status of my TVS Victor (a motorcycle) for renewal at cyber cafe, I found a penalty.”

“The fine was for not wearing a seatbelt. When I checked the photo attached with the fine-related document, I found that it was a car and not a bike”, he added.

Roy added that the incident was a goof-up by the police who may have mistakenly fined my motorcycle instead of a car.

He said that the car in the photo was registered as AS15AC3274 while his motorcycle was registered as AS15A3274.

Both the number plates were identical and hence the incident seemed to be a human error when entering the number for penalty.

He said that he would soon approach higher authorities regarding the incident.
