Batadrava Than in Assam, the birthplace of Srimanta Shankardeva, will undergo a facelift soon and be transformed into one like the famous Golden Temple in Amritsar, Punjab.

A mega protect has been undertaken by the Assam Government in this regard.

A fund tuning Rs 155 crore has already been allocated to the project.

Batadrava Than, located at Bordowa in Assam’s Nagaon district, is a place of worship an popular cultural tourist destination.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and NEDA Convenor and Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will soon flag off this mega project.

Meanwhile, preparations for the inaugural ceremony of this mega project are underway and are in full swing.

“We the people of Batadrava are proud of the Than. This is a very welcomed development and we thank the Assam Government for taking up this project,” said a resident of the area.

“We hope it will usher development and boost the tourism potential of Batadrava Than,” said another local.

Notably, the Assam State BJP, in recent times had been highlighting “the need of developing” Batadrava Than into a hot tourist destination.

Earlier this year, Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma while speaking at the Independence Day programme in Morigaon had said that the State Government is committed to transform Batadrava Than by enhancing the grandeur and magnificence par excellence.

“I offer a solemn commitment on behalf of the people of Assam, to transform Batadrava Than in Bordowa, the birthplace of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva, by enhancing the grandeur and magnificence par excellence,” said Himanta Biswa Sarma while speaking at the Independence Day programme at Morigaon this year.
