The protective service officer (PSO) to the general observer, Manjit Singh Brar for Jorhat and Teok constituencies tested positive for Covid-19 today.
The PSO Pranjal Barpatra Gohain had been kept under quarantine after Brar, an IAS officer from Punjab cadre, had tested positive for Covid-19 on March 9 during a Rapid Antigen Test following flu-like symptoms.

Barpatra Gohain has been shifted to the Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH) after an RT PCR test revealed him to be infected by the novel coronavirus.
Jorhat deputy commissioner, Roshni A Korati said that the Barpatra Gohain who was a constable of 1st APBn currently on deputation with the Jorhat district police, was entrusted as PSO to Brar.

The DC said that Brar who was staying in isolation in a friend’s house in Jorhat was shifted to the quarantine centre at the Air Force Hospital at Rowriah.
Siddiqui, an IAS officer of the Bengal cadre replaced Brar as the general observer for Jorhat and Teok constituencies.
However, Siddiqui would again be replaced by Madhumita Sinha Roy, another IAS officer from West Bengal following an exemption request for the former by West Bengal.
Likewise, the general observer for Dergaon constituency Atul Anand, IAS cadre from Tamil Nadu will be replaced by L Viya from Nagaland.
