“We will formulate appropriate laws and policies to tackle and end the menace of Love Jihad and Land Jihad in Assam,” the BJP stated in its manifesto.
If the BJP retains power, Assam could well become the first State in the Country to have Love Jihad and Land Jihad laws.

It may be mentioned here that BJP leaders in Assam have been vocal about introducing new marriage laws, according to which the bride and the groom would require to disclose their religion before tying the knot.
This new marriage law can well become the future Love Jihad law if the BJP retains power in Assam.
On the other hand, the BJP has added a never talked before law – Land Jihad law.
The BJP, in fact, did not specified any norms under which these two new laws would be formulated and introduced in Assam.
Earlier Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had informed that the BJP-led Assam Government has already drafted the controversial Love Jihad law.
