The BJP in Assam is likely to field several new faces in the upcoming Assam Assembly Elections.
This was indicated by NEDA Convenor and Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Himanta Biswa Sarma said that “there will be some changes as the party has many new workers”.
This was revealed by the Assam Health Minister after attending a meeting with BJP National President JP Nadda in Guwahati on Monday.
“Changes are bound to happen as the party has inducted many new workers,” Sarma said.
Himanta Biswa Sarma further said that only those leaders who have chances of winning the polls would be given tickets.
“The BJP will give tickets to the leaders, who have chances of winning the elections,” Sarma said.
Notably, a crucial meeting was held between top State leaders of the BJP including Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Assam State BJP President Ranjit Dass and party’s National president JP Nadda in Guwahati late yesterday evening.
The meeting deliberated on the poll strategies of BJP for the upcoming Assam Assembly Elections.
“Discussions were held on many issues related to the polls, including strengthening of the party’s organisational structure,” Assam BJP President Ranjit Dass said.
The BJP in Assam has officially sounded the poll bugle with JP Nadda launching the party’s campaign for the Assembly polls in the State by addressing the “Vijay Sankalp” rally at Silchar on Monday.
Notably, elections to the 126-member Assam Legislative Assembly are likely to be held in March-April this year.
