The Congress in Assam on Wednesday held a crucial closed door meeting to chalk out party’s strategy for the upcoming Assembly polls in the State.
The meeting attended by Assam Congress MPs and MLAs.
Apart from the MPs and MLAs, the meeting was also attended by newly appointed All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretaries for Assam – Anirudh Singh, Vikas Upadhyay, Prithviraj Prabhakar Sathe and Aditya Sharma.
This meeting comes at a time when reports are doing the rounds that several key Assam Congress leaders are likely to join the ruling BJP during Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to the State on December 26.

However, AICC secretary Vikas Upadhyay rubbished the reports saying that the BJP is spreading rumours.
“Nobody is leaving the Congress. The BJP is misleading the people. All our MLAs are united,” said Vikas Upadhyay.
“There is no dissidence within the party,” Upadhyay added.
Meanwhile, speaking about the agendas that the Congress would focus during election campaigning, Upadhyay said that it would highlight the BJP Government’s failures in the State.
He further said, “We will get majority in the Assembly elections. Congress will form the Government in Assam.”
