Rajijor Dal president and Assam’s jailed activist Akhil Gogoi, chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and minister Himanta Biswa Sarma are among the big winners in the Assam Assembly election 2021, results of which were declared on Sunday.
State BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass is also another big winner in the Assam Assembly election.
RTI activist and farmers’ leader Akhil Gogoi, who is still in jail in Guwahati, has been able to win the election defeating his nearest rival, BJP’s Surabhi Rajkowari.
Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal has retained the Majuli seat with a huge margin against his nearest rival Congress candidate Rajib Lochan Pegu.
Finance and health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma retained the Jalukbari constituency with a huge margin against his rivals.
He won by a margin of 1,01,911 votes.
Keeping aside all speculations, the Patacharkuchi seat was won by Assam BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass by defeating Congress candidate Santanu Sarma.
Former Congress minister, who joined the BJP ahead of the election, won the Golaghat seat again on BJP ticket.
Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) president and agriculture minister Atul Bora has retained the Bokakhat seat.
Sharing his win from Jalukbari constituency, Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted: “BJP4India won Jalukbari LAC-by a margin of 1,01,911 votes. It would be my Privilege to represent the constituency for 5th consecutive term. My gratitude to the people of Jalukbari, Honble PM @narendramodi, HM @AmitShah and national president @JPNadda.”

In another tweet, health minister Sarma urged the people to keep restrain and not to make crowds for celebrating victories.
“After the #AssamPolls results are out, I humbly urge all to kindly follow restraint and do not get together for celebrations. Please let’s all remember we are in the midst of #COVID19 pandemic and how Hon PM Sri @narendramodi is leading this battle from the front,” Sarma tweeted.
