Kokrajhar unit of Red Horns Division joined hands with Bardwi Sikhla Sports Club of Kachugaon in Assam’s Kokrajhar by providing assistance in establishing a football training academy for under privileged children.

Bardwi Sikhla sports club was established in 1980 and ever since, they’ve been encouraging local talent, many of whom have risen to represent their district and State.

Under this unique initiative, children of ethnic communities like Bodo, Rabha and Adivasi have been enrolled in the first batch.

Sports is an integral part of Army and it’s local sub-unit at Kachugaon has pledged to donate football equipment for the cause.

The children who have potential to rise high in the world of football will be participating in the next edition of the Kokrajhar Football Tournament and later in the prestigious Army BTAD football league.

This initiative is a fine example of how football can cut across all castes and ethnicities. The inauguration program included a cultural performance by the children followed by an address by Army and police officials, as well as by the representatives of the club.
