AJP president Lurinjyoti Gogoi described the alleged use of fake documents by certain candidates to secure jobs under reserved categories as โ€œunfortunate and deeply concerning.โ€

Guwahati: The Asom Jatiya Parishad (AJP) on Monday demanded a high-level inquiry into alleged irregularities in the Assam Direct Recruitment Examination (ADRE), claiming that fraudulent appointments in posts reserved for tea tribe and Adivasi communities have exposed serious lapses in the recruitment process.

Addressing the media, AJP president Lurinjyoti Gogoi described the alleged use of fake documents by certain candidates to secure jobs under reserved categories as โ€œunfortunate and deeply concerning.โ€ He said the rights of the tea tribe and Adivasi communities could not be compromised.

The party cited departmental findings indicating that 98 candidates have already been declared ineligible and that legal action would be initiated against those found to have attempted to obtain appointments through fraudulent means.

According to AJP, complaints against 123 candidates led to a fresh round of document verification under the supervision of the Tribal Welfare Department. Of these, 25 candidates reportedly failed to appear for verification, 21 produced valid documents, and 24 were unable to submit complete documentation. The party said these developments have raised questions about the transparency and credibility of the recruitment process.

AJP also flagged what it termed a โ€œserious allegationโ€ that posts reserved for tea tribe and Adivasi candidates may have been diverted to outsiders. Questioning how non-eligible individuals could access reserved posts at a time when educated youths from the communities are struggling for employment, the party asked whether any organised nexus or patronage system was involved.

The party asserted that any misuse of the reservation policy and denial of opportunities to eligible candidates would not be tolerated. It called upon the government to take stringent action against those responsible.

Among its demands, AJP sought an immediate high-level inquiry, full disclosure of documents related to appointments in reserved categories, cancellation of appointments of those found guilty, and initiation of legal proceedings.

Reiterating the partyโ€™s stand, Gogoi said AJP would continue to pursue the issue to safeguard the rights of tea tribe and Adivasi youths and uphold the integrity of the reservation system in state recruitment.
