Assam’s renowned theatre personality Dilip Ranjan Dutta passed away at Jorhat Mission Hospital on Wednesday.
The 59-year-old artist, suffering for the last few months, was admitted at the hospital last week.
“Dutta’s death is an irreparable loss to Assam’s mobile theatre world,” said Raktim Das, a budding theatre actor.
Dutta has been a part of several mobile theatre groups including Kohinoor, Bhagyadevi and Mukanda theatre for more than three decades.
“His powerful performances in plays like Bhoi, Xagoroloi Bohu Durr, and Maharaja shall always remain fresh in our memory,” Das reiterated.
