Two Assam Civil Service (ACS) officers have been arrested by the chief minister’s special vigilance cell.

The two Assam Civil Service (ACS) officers have been arrested for their alleged involvement in village headmen appointment scam.

The two ACS officers were allegedly involved in illegal appointment of village headmen (Gaon Burha) in South Salmara-Mankachar district of Assam during 2017-18.

The two ACS officers have been identified as Elias Ahmed and Bikram Aditya Bora

While, Elias Ahmed is currently posted as a deputy secretary at the Assam Secretariat, Bikram Aditya Bora is serving as a circle officer in Kokrajhar.

“We have arrested two more officials in connection with the case,” SP of CM’s SVC Rosie Kalita said.

The arrested officials were the board members of the selection committee, informed SP Kalita.

Moreover, the vigilance cell has also summoned former deputy commissioner of South Salmara-Mankachar district – Atika Sultana for questioning.

Sultana was the chairman of the Gaon Burahs appointment committee.

Tinted ACS officer Saibur Rahman is the third arrested official in the case.

Saibur Rahman’s name got embroiled in the case following his arrest and interrogation in disproportionate assets case.
