Police in Assam’s Karbi Anglong had to resort to firing to stop an accused kidnapper from escaping. 

The accused kidnapper – Kanwaldeep Singh Sidhu, tried to flee from police custody by snatching a police weapon. 

He also fired at the police team, which was taking him reportedly to Guwahati. 

The incident has been reported from near Doldoli Reserve Forest in Karbi Anglong district in Assam. 

Kanwaldeep Singh Sidhu was apprehended by the Karbi Anglong police in a case of kidnapping of a person named Ajit Das in Guwahati.

The development was confirmed by special DG of Assam Police – GP Singh. 

“One Kanwaldeep Singh Sidhu main accused of recent kidnapping of one Ajit Das from guwahati was apprehended today. However, during travel he snatched a police weapon and fired. In retaliatory fire he has been grievously injured and taken to hospital,” GP Singh said. 

“The incident took place near Doldoli Reserve Forest in Karbi Anglong district. The police party of @karbianglongpol is also being given medical attention,” GP Sing tweeted.
