Doomdooma: The All Assam Studentsโ€™ Union (AASU) on Tuesday intensified its agitation against rising fuel prices and inflation by staging a protest in Assamโ€™s commercial hub of Tinsukia district.

Hundreds of AASU members gathered in Doomdooma and raised slogans against the government, demanding immediate measures to control inflation and reduce the prices of petrol, diesel and essential commodities.

The protesters alleged that the continuous rise in fuel prices, medicines and daily essentials was placing a severe financial burden on ordinary people and making it increasingly difficult for families to manage household expenses.

โ€œThe common public is facing immense hardship as prices of every essential item continue to rise day by day,โ€ an AASU member said during the protest.

Another protester said reducing fuel prices and controlling inflation should be treated as an urgent priority in the interest of the public.

The student body maintained that increasing fuel prices have triggered a broader inflationary effect by raising transportation and freight costs, which in turn affected the prices of vegetables, groceries, milk, medicines and other consumer goods.

Protesters also expressed concern over the impact of rising operational costs on small businesses and transport operators across the state.

AASU said immediate intervention was necessary to ease the growing economic burden on the public and provide relief to people affected by rising living costs.
