A 50-year-old lady died on the spot when the scooter she was riding pillion was knocked down by a speeding Army vehicle on Monday noon, opposite to the Bhupen Hazarika Memorial Park in Mangaldai town.
The deceased has been identified as Purnima Devi, who worked at Deonagaon LP School and was a resident Chamuapara village under Mangaldai Police Station.
Her cousin, who was riding the scooter (registration number AS-13-j-6852), escaped with minor injuries.
The two were on their way home after purchasing goods for Tuesday’s Uruka celebrations.
