A young woman, believed to be under the influence of alcohol, caused a serious accident in upper Assam's Dibrugarh on Sunday evening.

Dibrugarh: A young woman, believed to be under the influence of alcohol, caused a serious accident in upper Assam’s Dibrugarh on Sunday evening.

Her white Hyundai i20, bearing registration number AS 19 E 4127, collided with a blacksmith’s shop near the flyover, injuring three people, said a police official.

The injured, identified as Gautam Sharma, Upendra Sharma, and Shiva Narayan Sharma, were working at the shop at the time of the accident. Gautam Sharma’s condition is reported to be critical.

Before this incident, the women allegedly caused another accident on PN Road and fled the scene. Local reports suggest that young men were also present in the vehicle during the first incident.

Police recovered alcohol bottles and drug-like substances from the vehicle. Following public outcry, the woman was apprehended by police.

Dibrugarh police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the matter.
