Altogether 24 cases related to forgery in NRC were registered and chargesheet was filed against 91 persons in Hojai district.

Addressing a press conference in Hojai on August 2, Superintendent of Police Ankur Jain said, “19 cases were disposed off and five cases are pending related to NRC.”

Sharing the data on NDPS cases with the media persons Hojai police super Jain said, “Of the seven NDPS cases registered, four were disposed off and three cases are pending.  During the operation 1,411 bottles of cough syrup, 248.169 kgs of suspected ganja, 667 numbers of capsules along with four sealed packed boxes capsules and 1,078 tablets along with 40 packets of drugs were recovered by the district police.”

Jain informed that of the nine arms related cases registered, all are pending. During the operation, one SBML gun (handmade), 8 pistols (7.65 mm, 0.22 mm, 9 mm) and 54 rounds of live ammunition were recovered.

In connection with cases registered against misuse of social media regarding Dokmoka incident one case was filed which is pending and one person was arrested. Hojai district police organized various meetings to create social awareness and Hojai District Social Media Monitoring Cell is working actively.

He said two cases related to mob lynching were registered which are still pending.

Jain said district police achieved major success in four kidnapping cases. Four abducted persons were successfully rescued from Andra Pradesh, New Delhi, New Jalpaiguri and Daboka Pahar.

He also said list of 70 Village Defence Parties (VDPs) have been sent to Assam Police head quarters for registration. Three best VDPs will be awarded on August 15.
