Dhubri district witnessed a slight decline in new cases of coronavirus infections with only 45 people testing positive on Thursday.

The new active cases include six inmates of the Dhubri district jail.

The total cumulative number of cases in the district has reached 5281.

On Tuesday, 947 active cases were recorded while on Wednesday, the total number of active cases stood at 725 respectively.

Two people succumbed to the virus on Thursday, taking the district’s total death toll to 57.

The deceased have been identified as a 52-yewar-old man of Suripara under Sapatgram area and a 48-year-old man of ward number 12 of Dhubri town respectively.

A total of 4524 people have so far recovered from the infection.

On Thursday, a total of 4,635 samples were tested for Covid-19.

Despite the state government’s appeal not to step outdoors without a reason,  people can be seen roaming on different roads in the town area.
