Two dacoits have been gunned down and one apprehended by the police in Assam’s Goalpara after a high-speed chase. 

The incident has been confirmed by Assam director general of police (DGP) – Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta on Sunday. 

“That happened in Goalpara yesterday. Police had to chase criminals across the area of 4 police stations, while being shot at by the criminals! But finally, police got better of them,” the Assam DGP said. 

The two dacoits that were killed in the shootout have been identified as Rafajuddin and Basit Ali. 

The other dacoit who has been arrested has been identified as Rashidul Islam.

Rashidul Islam also had suffered bullet injuries in the shootout and is being treated at a hospital. 

Meanwhile, the police are on the lookout to nab one more dacoit, who managed to flee. 

2 of the dacoits (Rafajuddin & Basit Ali) died in the shootout while one Rashidul Islam has been injured. We are on the lookout for fourth accomplice. All of them have prior cases of dacoity against them. One gun and the car they were travelling in has been recovered,” Assam DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta added.
