The Dhubri district administration is gearing up to inoculate 15,000 people per day during enhanced Covid-19 vaccination drive from June 21.

Deputy commissioner Anbamuithamn MP directed the authorities concerned to organize the enhanced vaccination drive during a district level meeting held at the DC office on Saturday.

The Assam government has targeted to inoculate 3 lakhs persons daily during the vaccination drive that will begin in the state as well as the entire country from June 21.

“The target is high, but is required to protect more lives. We need to scale up vaccination at the earliest  in the greater interest of the common people,” said Anbamuthan.

The vaccination will be conducted in 82 centres across the district and a maximum of 200 beneficiaries can be inoculated per day at each vaccination centre by facilitating on-the-spot registration.

Senior citizens will be given first preference at each centre.

Beneficiaries also need not undergo Covid-19 tests prior to getting vaccinated and all vaccination centres will remain open till all people arriving there receive the Covid-19 vaccine.

“We have selected 82 centers for conducting the mega vaccination drive and it will be further extended to 100 across the district,” said a senior official.

According to available data, a total of 1,42,226 people have so far been vaccinated, of which 1,08,446 are received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine and 33,780 people received the second dose in Dhubri district.
