The Local MLA Kaling Moyong in presence of East Siang Deputy Commissioner, Tamiyo Tatak on Thursday flagged off the Pasighat–Dibrugarh Arunachal Pradesh State Transport (APST) bus service from the Gandhi Chowk at Pasighat.

The 44-seater bus will ply via the recently inaugurated Bogibeel Bridge.

Moyong in his brief address said that the inauguration of Bogibeel road-cum-rail bridge by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a New Year gift for the people of the eastern belt of Arunachal and those of neighboring Assam.

“The bridge in particular has helped realize the long awaited dream of the people of the region who have been yearning of a smooth, quick and easy road travel towards Dibrugarh and other places which are on the other side of the Brahmaputra,” the MLA said.

Moyong further said the bus service will greatly benefit patients, particularly the underprivileged sections, seeking medical treatment in Dibrugarh and also make commuting affordable for students traveling for educational purposes.

Stressing on importance of public transport in providing affordable and easy travel for the general public, the MLA at the same time appreciated the dedicated efforts of the officials and staff of APST, Pasighat led by its senior station superintendent, Kabit Ering.

Earlier, the MLA also greeted and interacted with the first passengers of the Dibrugarh bound vehicle. As a goodwill gesture he also bore the fare of all them.

Travelling a total route length of 160 kms, the Pasighat-Dibrugarh APST daily service will leave at 7 am for Dibrugarh from Pasighat. Its evening departure from Dibrugarh has been scheduled for 1 pm.
