A massive fire destroyed 34 grocery and vegetable outlets in one of the APMC market sheds in Pasighat main market area (Gandhi Chowk) at around 12.30 am on Monday.

DC Tamiyo Tatak and DDMO rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation. Fire tenders were pressed into service immediately to control the situation but the sheds could not be saved. The investigation is underway to unearth the cause of the fire that caused huge losses.

Local MLA Kaling Moyong, in a message to the DIPRO, termed the incident very unfortunate and asked the East Siang administration to provide all possible help and compensation to the victims. He also asked the denizens to take precautionary measures so that such incidents can be avoided.

Moyong appreciated the firefighters and the people of Pasighat for their courage in controlling the blaze.

ADC Tatdo Borang along with a team of officers visited the spot and assured to provide relief immediately to the victims after receiving a verification report.

A prominent leader and former Minister, Bosiram Siram also visited the area, interacted with the traders and assured deployment to a few young night guards for the safety of the market area. He also advised the fire service to be alert round-the-clock to prevent such unfortunate incident in future.
