A final year architecture student from Silchar in Assam’s Cachar district allegedly committed suicide at Bhauri in Madhya Pradesh.
Priyali Dey, the 24-year-old student of the School of Planning and Architecture, Bhopal, reportedly committed suicide by choking herself with a gas cylinder pipe.
It has been reported that she had purchased the pipe of the gas cylinder online just a week back.
A media report quoted a police official as saying that Dey apparently covered her face with a blue plastic sheet and tied it to her neck with a rope.
The deceased’s body was found from her hostel room in Bhauri village, situated on the outskirts of Bhopal city.
The report quoted Khajuri Police Station in-charge LD Mishra as saying that the incident took place on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.
In a suicide note recovered from the spot, the student mentioned that she had taken the extreme step “on her own”.
She had written the suicide note in English, Bengali and Assamese.
The body of the deceased has been handed over to a cousin brother of the deceased after conducting post-mortem.
The deceased’s cousin brother, who resides in Mumbai, reached Bhauri after the incident.
The police official also informed the deceased met with a mishap in Goa three months back during a holiday trip and had a knee surgery.
She was not keeping well after the surgery, the police official said further.
