The Gauhati High Court on Tuesday quashed the petitions of the 49 sacked ACS and APs officers, who were involved in Assam Public Service Commission’s (APSC) cash for job scam.

All the 49 sacked gazetted officers allegedly secured their jobs through unfair means in APSC examinations.

The sacked officials filed a petition at the Gauhati High Court seeking reinstatement of their jobs in June last year.

A bench of justice Manjit Bhuyan quashed their petitions after two months of hearing.

Assam government has requested Gauhati high court against giving jobs back to 43 gazetted officers.

Supreme Court lawyer and BJP leader, Nalin S Kohli appeared in the high court on behalf of the state government.

At least 74 accused including chairman of the commission, Rakesh Kumar Paul and two other members have been arrested in connection with the case registered in 2016.

All 43 gazetted officers, including civil service and police service officers, were arrested following forensic analysis of their answer scripts. They are now out on bail.
