Assam Pradesh Manipuri Association will commemorate 127th Bir Tikendrajit Martyr’s Day in a befitting manner with a day long programme at Hojai on August 13.

President of APMA Advocate Yumnam Nayan Singha on Thursday said, “Assam Pradesh ManipurI Association (APMA) is going to commemorate 127th Bir Tikendrajit Martyr’s Day in a befitting manner with a daylong activity at Hojai on August 13.”

He said the objective behind observance of the day is to preserve peace, progress and integrity of the nation comprising all the multi-linguistic religious groups. Singha said everyone present on the day will observe “Meira-Katpa” at 5 pm as a mark of due respect to the patriotic ideals of Bir Tikendrajit .

APMA general secretary Laitonjam Akham told media about the schedule of the programme and the names of the guests to grace the occasion.

The programme will began at 7:30 am at Manipuri Sahitya Parishad Bhawan campus with flag hoisting by APMA president Y Nayan Singha. A peace rally will be taken out in the town at 9 am and the open session will begin from afternoon 1:30 onwards.

Manipur Deputy Chief Minister Yumnam Joykumar Singh will grace the occasion as chief guest and union minister of state for Railways Rajen Gohain will grace the occasion as special guest of honour.

The cultural programme will be inaugurated by Hojai MLA Shiladitya Dev at 6.30 pm.
