During the event, Shah officially opened the Pragjyotishpur Medical College and Hospital in Guwahati, a facility built at a cost of Rs 675 crore.

Guwahati: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday inaugurated and laid the foundation for several healthcare initiatives across Assam, with a total investment of Rs 2,092 crore, as the state gears up for its Assembly elections.

During the event, Shah officially opened the Pragjyotishpur Medical College and Hospital in Guwahati, a facility built at a cost of Rs 675 crore.

The minister also virtually launched two new cancer care centres in Golaghat and Tinsukia, each developed under the Assam Cancer Care Foundation (ACCF) at an expense of Rs 135 crore per centre.

Shah further laid the foundation for multiple super-speciality hospitals across Assam. These include projects at Diphu Medical College and Hospital (Rs 220 crore), Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (Rs 310 crore), and Barpeta Medical College and Hospital (Rs 284 crore).

He also virtually kicked off construction of the Swasthya Bhawan in Guwahati (Rs 218 crore) and the Abhayapuri District Hospital (Rs 115 crore), projects designed to enhance healthcare management and increase treatment capacity across Assam.
