The two-day-long All India FCI Inter-Zonal Cultural Competition 2020 kick-started on Wednesday with traditional fanfare and fervour at Srimanta Sankardeva Kalashetra premises in Guwahati.
The event has been organised under the aegis of Sports Promotion Board, FCI Headquarters and FCI Zonal Sports Promotion Committee (NE) in the Sri Sri Madhabdeva International Auditorium.

Assam director general of police (DGP) Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta presided over the opening ceremony of the event as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, IPS officer Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta lauded the efforts of the FCI in furthering cultural exchanges and exhorted the visiting dignitaries and participating teams to utilize the opportunity and visit the verdant locales of the State.
The organisers have informed that OP Dani, chief general manager (Accounts) & the secretary, Sports Promotion Board, FCI Headquarters, New Delhi, Flt. Lt. (Retd.) MK Gogoi, chief general manager (Northeast), FCI along with several other senior officers and dignitaries were present on the occasion.
Teams from FCI Headquarters, New Delhi along with 5 FCI Zones are participating in the cultural events of dance, singing & instrumental and drama spanning over March 4-5, 2020.
The drama and instrumentation competitions were held on an opening day on Wednesday.
Gunakar Dev Goswami and Joly Borah, both well-known personalities from Assam in the cultural sphere, were also present on the occasion to judge the competitions held on Wednesday.
The competitions for dance and singing will be held on Thursday.
This will be followed by the closing and prize distribution ceremony.
Maj. Gen. Jarken Gamlin, the GOC of 51 Sub Area, is expected to be the chief guest for the closing ceremony on Wednesday.
