Continuing the legacy of past years, 9 students from Guwahati-based Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Pharmaceutical Science (GIPS) qualified GPAT 2020.

The Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) is a national level entrance examination for admission in postgraduate pharmacy (M. Pharm) programme conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Till 2018, it was conducted by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) every year as per the directions of the union ministry of human resource development, Government of India.

The test will now be conducted by the NTA.

The GPAT-2020 qualified candidates from GIPS are Abhipshit Kalita (AIR 203), Momitul Ahmed (AIR 923), Abhijita Talukder (AIR 1349), Nayanika Neog (AIR 3327), Partha Pratim Thakuria (AIR 4351), Sauvik Kumar Das (AIR 10717), Kiran Pandey (AIR 11072), Dhritilata Pegu (AIR 16159), and Beli Brahma (AIR 18499).

“Abhipshit Kalita, who is a B.Pharm 6th semester student, secured all India rank (AIR) 203, the best ranking among all students from Northeast India, which is a very proud moment for the GIPS family as well as to the entire state of Assam,” said GIPS in a statement.

All the faculty members of GIPS, located at Azara in Guwahati, expressed their happiness at the success of the students of the institute in the prestigious national level examination conducted by the NTA under the union HRD ministry.

All the successful students of GIPS were felicitated by the GIPS family recently.

In the felicitation programme, Shrimanta Shankar Academy (SSA) president Ratul Das, GIPS principal Prof (Dr.) Gouranga Das and all the faculty members of GIPS were present.

GPAT facilitates institutions to select suitable pharmacy graduates for admission into the Master’s (M.Pharm) programme.

GPAT is a three-hour computer based online test which is conducted in a single session.

The GPAT score is accepted by all AICTE-approved institutions/university departments/constituent colleges and affiliated colleges.

A few scholarships and other financial assistance in the field of pharmacy are also offered on the basis of the GPAT score.
