Ronuwa – Who Never Surrender, a movie directed by Chandra Mudoi, won Best Feature Film award in the Assamese language in the 67th National Film Awards which were announced on Monday.
The 67th National Film Awards were announced on Monday evening in New Delhi, with the honors for films from the year 2019.
Fireflies-Jonaki Porua, another Assamese film on LGBTQ, was honoured with Jury’s special mention in the feature films category.
Three other films from Northeast Iewduh, Anu Ruwad and Eigi Kona won best feature film awards in Khasi, Mishing and Manipuri languages respectively.
Priyadarshan’s Malayalam war epic Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea bagged Best Feature Film award.
The best acting honours went to Manoj Bajapayee for Bhonsle, Dhanush for Tamil film Asuran, and Kangana Ranaut for two of her films: Panga and Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi.

By winning the ‘Best Sound Recording’, Khasi film Iewduh became the first film from the Northeastern region to receive the top award in this category.
The film had hit the screens on November 15, 2019, when it was released in Shillong, Guwahati, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore and Kolkata.
It was the first Khasi film to have been released simultaneously outside Shillong.
The film has been directed by Pradip Kurbah, two times National Award winner. Iewduh, also known as Barabazar, is one of the oldest and largest daily markets in Shillong.
Made under the banner of Shiven Arts, the film talks about the daily lives of the people in the market.
