Six more positive patients have succumbed to COVID19 infections in Assam on Tuesday, taking the death toll in the state to 115.

Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet on Tuesday said the COVID19 victims are from Jorhat, Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, and Sonitpur districts.

Sarma informed that the COVID19 victims have been identified as 72-year-old Sradhona Sarkar from Jorhat district; 43-year-old Pranab Saikia and 60-year-old Aarati Limbu from Tinsukia district; 48-year-old Manik Sarkar and 48-year-old Bhaban Likson from Dibrugarh district and 63-year-old Sajal Acharjee from Sonitpur.

Assam so far has registered a total of 45,275 COVID19 positive cases while 33,428 patients have discharged from the hospitals or Covid Care Centres across the state.

With the demise of 6 more positive patients, Assam currently has 11,129 active COVID19 patients while the deadly disease has claimed the lives of 115 positive patients.

India has registered 52,020 cases in the 24 hours for a 6th straight day, taking the country’s COVID19 tally to 1,878,382.

After conducting over 20 million COVID19 tests, India’s positivity rate is now at over 8% while the country’s death toll stands at 39,188.
