With 1,482 new COVID19 cases and 4 more deaths in the last 24 hours, Assam’s positive tally increased to 1,96,786 and the death toll mounted to 830.

Confirming the detection of the new cases, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the state’s COVID19 status on Tuesday said the state’s positivity rate continued to be lower at 1.17%.

“Alert ~ Gives me confidence to share that our positivity rate continues to be very low at 1.17%,” health minister Sarma tweeted.

The health minister informed that the new COVID19 cases were detected out of 1,26,279 tests conducted on the day.

“However, still we should not lower our guards. Today 1482 #COVID detected out of 126279 tests performed today ~ that’s 1 lakh + tests, second day in a row,” Sarma said in his tweet.

Informing about the demise of 4 more positive patients due to COVID19 infection, health minister Sarma in another tweet said: “Deeply saddened to share the demise of four #Covid patients.”

The deceased have been identified as Ratul Bora (50) of Dibrugarh; Horumai Begum (55) of Sivasagar; Binod Kumar Agarwalla (61) of Kamrup Metro and Hiren Lekharu (69) of Jorhat.

“Condolences to all bereaved families and friends,” Sarma state.

Assam currently has 29,917 active COVID19 cases.
