With three more deaths reported on Thursday, the COVID19 death toll in Assam has increased to 27.

Confirming the sad news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet on Thursday informed that one of the deceased has been identified as Bhaben Gogoi, a 72-year-old COVID19 patient, who had lymphoma and died at Assam Medical College Hospital (AMCH).

The two other victims have been identified as 68-year-old Dhaneswar Seal, a COVID19 patient who had chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and 38-year-old Tarzuna Begum, a COVID19 patient, who had diabetes and they were undergoing treatment at Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH).

“Sad to inform demise of Sri Bhaben Gogoi (72), #COVID19 patients with lymphoma, at AMCH; Sri Dhaneswar Seal (68), Covid with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease & Smt Tarzuna Begum (38), Covid with diabetes, at MMCH,” health minister Sarma tweeted.

Assam has so far registered a total of 14,032 COVID19 positive cases with 4,855 active cases while 9147 people have recovered.

A total of 3 cases have migrated from the state.

The health minister has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the COVID19 victims..

Earlier on the day, Assam recorded two deaths.

In a tweet, health minister Sarma condoled the death of two persons – 70-year-old Prosnna Kumar Haloi and 56-year-old Ramsingh Hanse.

Haloi was a resident of Beltola in Guwahati while Hanse was from Karbi Anglong.

The health minister informed that Haloi and Hanse were admitted to Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) Covid ICU and succumbed to critical infections in the morning.

“Both were on invasive ventilation,” Sarma informed.

During the last 24 hours, a total of 19,547 patients have been cured in India, taking the cumulative figure of recoveries among COVID19 patients to 4,76,377 as of Thursday.

Presently, there are 2,69,789 active cases across the country and all are under active medical supervision.

The deadly disease has claimed the lives of total 21,129 COVID19 patients in India so far.
