The fourth edition of the Guwahati Theatre Festival is going to start from Friday at Pragjyoti ITA Center, Machkhowa of the city.

The three-day festival will continue till December 8.

G Plus, an English weekly, who is the organiser of the festival, aims to showcase world-class performances with quality entertainment.

The festival brings together highly acclaimed plays like Patte Khul Gaye, The Davil Wears Bata and Kusoor, The Mistake from the house of nationally acclaimed production groups.

The opening play, Patte Khul Gaye is a Hindi comedy directed by veteran theatre actor Rakesh Bedi.

It is a hilarious portrait of the hypocrisy in our society.

The play narrates the story of Manoj Rai and his wife Manju Rai who have invited a group of friends for dinner.

Packed with hilarious situations and entertainment, Patte Khul Gaye is a must-watch for comedy lovers.

The popular cast of the hilarious play includes Rakesh Bedi, Kishwer Merchant, Anant Mahadevan, Avijit Dutt & Rupali Ganguly.

Along with the plays, this festival also promises to provide learning opportunities to the local youth through the workshop with Rakesh Bedi on December 6.

“The idea behind Guwahati Theatre Festival is to reach out to wider audiences and help shed the notion that theatre-going is an activity restricted only to a certain section of people,” Sunit Jain, festival chairman, said.

“While we are launching with theatre, we hope to highlight the importance of theatres and plays in the region and promote the culture of appreciating various forms of performing arts,” Jain said.
