Assam has registered 2,243 new COVID19 positive cases on Wednesday, taking the state’s overall tally to 1,33,066.
Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the state’s COVID19 status said the new cases have been detected out of 31,562 tests.

“Alert ~ 2243 #COVID cases detected today out of 31562 tests done in last 24 hours,” said health minister Sarma.
Assam’s positivity rate stands at 7.10%, Sarma said.

Of the news cases, Kamrup Metro district has reported 641 cases, Dibrugarh 170, Jorhat 140 and Lakhimpur district has reported 106 new cases.
A total of 1,01,239 patients, who were earlier infected by COVID19, have been discharged in the state after their recovery from the disease.
Assam currently has 31,428 active COVID19 cases while 3 positive cases migrated from the state.
On Wednesday, 18 more positive patients succumbed to COVID19 infections in Assam, taking the state’s death toll to 396.
Confirming the news, health minister Sarma in an earlier tweet said: “Very sad & anguished to inform that 18 more COVID19 positive patients have succumbed to the disease.”
