In an interesting turn of events, the Guwahati City Police on Monday closed to reserve two police officials for allegedly paving the way for former Miss India finalist Rajkanya Baruah to secure bail.
Wedding planner and model Rajkanya Baruah allegedly knocked down eight PWD workers with her speeding vehicle while driving in a ‘drunken’ condition on GS Road at the city’s Rukminigaon area on Saturday night.
However, she managed to secure bail within 24 hours of the incident even after committing such a ‘heinous crime’ due to ‘faulty FIR’ and the poor investigation into the incident by Dispur police.

Two sub-inspectors at Dispur police station– Sahir Ali and Abha Rani Gogoi—were closed to reserve on Saturday following massive outrage against Assam police on social media.
The police did not file any criminal case against the woman and except one; all the IPC sections slapped against her are bailable.
Police did not register the FIR for driving under the influence of alcohol, for causing injury to a person while driving under the influence of alcohol and for the violation of the night curfew, which is in force in Guwahati in view of the Covid-19.
The woman violated the Disaster Management Act but the police have not filed any case in this regard.
Sources said a fresh FIR has been registered against Rajkanya Baruah based on a complaint lodged with Dispur police station by Bubul Choudhury, the owner of the vehicle, which was damaged after being hit by her vehicle.
Dispur police reportedly issued summon to Rajkanya asking her to appear before them on Tuesday.
Rajkanya is reportedly undergoing treatment at GNRC Hospital in Guwahati.
