Assam Police have arrested 13 Rohingya refugees, including 6 children, from Karimganj district for illegally entering India through the Indo-Bangladesh border in Karimganj district.

According to a media report, the arrested Rohingya refugees were taken into police custody on Tuesday.

The refugees were detained as they were moving in a bus from Agartala to Guwahati.

The report quoted sources as saying that they were arrested from the Churaibari inter-state border.

It has been reported that the 13 Rohingya refugees, including 4 men and 3 women, are from two different families.

The police recovered a fake Aadhaar card and Indian currency notes from the possession of the Rohingya refugees, according to the report.

The arrested Rohingya refugees were planning to move to Delhi, Hyderabad or Jammu in search of work, as they revealed before the police.

Earlier, a number of Rohingya refugees were arrested by Assam Police from various places on charges of illegal entry into the country.
