Eleven more positive patients have succumbed to COVID19 infection in Assam on Wednesday, taking the state’s death toll to 597.
Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the state’s COVID19 status on Wednesday said: “Very sad and anguished to inform that 11 more COVID positive patients have succumbed to the disease.”
The COVID19 victims have been identified as Bhuban Ch Chetia (70) of Sivasagar; Binod Buragohain (53) of Tinsukia; Ratnakar Baruch (75) of Nalbari; San Dodiya (84) of Kamrup Metro; Malin Das (51) of Kamrup Rural and Bana Hazarika (92) or Jorhat.
The other victims have been identified as Joya Dasgupta (75) of Cachar; Rukmini Barik (70) of Lakhimpur; Biswajyoti Handique (48) of Lakhimpur; Binoy Basumatary (57) of Chirang and Netai P Chakraborty (70) of Kamrup Metro.
“My condolences to all the families. We stand by you in this hour of grief,” health minister Sarma said.
Assam so far has registered 1,61,393 COVID19 positive cases.
A total of 1,30,947 patients have recovered from the disease in the state till date.
With the demise of 11 more patients, Assam currently has 29,846 active COVID19 patients.
