As many as eleven kids at a children’s home in Assam’s Tezpur have tested positive for COVID-19.
Along with the eleven children, six staffers of the facility have also tested COVID-19 positive.
All those who have tested positive in the children’s home have been shifted to the Tezpur Medical College Hospital (TMCH) for treatment.
The medical condition of all the 17 people, including the eleven children is stable.

Meanwhile, the Sonitpur district administration has declared the children’s home as a containment zone.
The children’s home belongs to the Missionaries of Charity.
According to reports, a total of 259 children in Sonitpur district, so far, have contracted COVID-19.
One child has also succumbed to the disease during the second wave of the pandemic this year.

COVID-19 cases among children across Assam are on the rise.
In Dibrugarh, the Delta variant of COVID-19 has been found in the cases detected among children.
